The Fox and Hounds 1st birthday Party – Reversing the trend!

After a turbulent few years including closure of over 6 months, the Fox and Hounds in Walton on the Hill has just celebrated our 1st birthday under the new management of Jane Pascoe and Georgia Stewart. Jane is a renowned local caterer and Georgia a publican with many years experience, who were introduced by their mutual accountant!

Our Birthday celebrations on 28th May, involved inviting corporate clients and regular customers for cocktails and cake from 6-7pm followed by live music from Asylum Affair, a 5 piece band playing rock covers.

When we opened, we promised to be ‘the pub at the heart of the village’ keeping the village bar, and opening a new separate restaurant. Our delightful team of ‘Foxy Ladies’ are an all girl front-of-house team along with a dedicated team of chefs have worked very hard to make this pub a relaxed and friendly establishment with excellent service and a superb food offering.

We have taken advantage of every opportunity to be involved in our local community: We now have a weekly quiz night every Monday. We have organised many music nights with live bands, in house DJ’s , Charity music quiz nights for The Children’s Trust at Tadworth, fancy dress evenings, a traditional English knee’s up for St George’s day,  fund raising for Help For Heroes amongst much more. This year we plan on having many more fun filled evenings starting with The Walton on the Hill May Pageant, when we went All American for the day with BBQ, buckets of beer, American costumes, cocktails and a’ Soul and Motown’ evening with DJ Barrie Stone. We have a ‘Friends of the Fox’ events mailing list.

We like to support other small businesses, from farms to Ice-cream  makers. Our daily changing restaurant menu offers creative dishes made with seasonal and local produce, we even buy and swap local game and vegetables grown in our customers very own gardens. Our traditional Sunday roast comes highly recommended with an in house competition as to who can make the biggest Yorkshire puddings!

We have just introduced a Plat du Jour, a special mid week set price menu, which is exceptional value at 2 courses for only £10.00 and includes a glass of wine during The Times Dine with Wine promotion (ends 24th September 2010). There is also a wide choice of classic homemade dishes on our bar menu all representing excellent value for money.

The restaurant is available for private hire, from business breakfasts to local community meetings. We have catered for many different parties producing individually created buffets and a wide variety of suppers including many Charity dinners. The Fox and Hounds regularly caters for club, sporting and private events away from the pub.

So whether it’s for a delicious meal a relaxing drink or a tub of award winning Purbeck ice cream sitting in our back garden, on the terrace or in our charming bar you must try The Fox and Hounds.

We have been made to feel very welcome in Walton on the Hill and intend to buck the trend of pubs closing! We could not be more proud of what we have achieved.
